Anglican Christmas Concert of 2010

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): It was a night of sheer Christmas thrill and ambiance, with musical selections from choirs, choral groups and soloists. The Anglican Church Christmas Concert was well attended on Monday night and provided top notch performances from local performers and musicians. The concert, held at the St. Georges Anglican Church on Cayon Street in Basseterre was well received and was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas, Governor General Sir Cuthbert Sebastian and Tourism Minister Richard Skerritt. A poem by Kimi-Lee Knight, a satire on Value Added Tax (VAT) was the prominent performance that night. The poem is entitled: Santa Claus Ain’t coming This year.
The young carolers began the festivities with two selections: “Sweetly singing in the manger” and “Joy, Joy,” both directed by Pam Wall. The concert then progressed into beautiful solo performances from Nadia La Fond with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and musical solos from Janelle Mills on the guitar and Rev. Jeremy Francis on the organ.
Then there were performances from St. Georges’ Junior Choir, directed again by Pam Wall, the St. Georges Senior Choir directed by Edith Bellot and Vakeil Hebert doing a cover of the Jackson 5’s “Give Love On Christmas Day.” Wendy Peets performed a Christmas medley and The Young Carolers again took to the platform with “What Can I Give Him.” But a Christmas concert would never be the same without chorale performances. Two items came from the CFBC Choral Ensemble and three from the St. Christopher Choral Society. Vocalist Larry Vaughn did a breathtaking rendition of O Holy Night, but the musical interludes towards the end of the programme truly entertained the gathering.
